Our intention is to generate –
Sustainability | Community | Well-Being | Renewable |Co-Creation | Self-Esteem | Creativity | Productivity | Collaboration Sharing-Economy | Knowledge & Skill Share | Growing Culture

This initiative highlights the benefits of collaborative partnerships between Council, Business, University and Local Community. And addresses the need for Zero Homelessness, Inclusive Leadership, Cultural Intelligence, Creative Green Environments and Social Enterprise. It also provides an exciting environment for tourists to visit, highlighting the creative and progressive nature of our city; Adelaide.

The Vision – Our vision is to reinvigorate existing spaces or buildings in the Adelaide CBD, and transforming them into attractive, thriving, creative, social enterprises that are of interest and benefit to the community. Using these existing environments, spaces and structures is an authentic demonstration of the next wave of the ‘sharing and caring collaborative economy’ model – which is ‘utilizing what already exists and adding value’, rather than going to the current ‘start-up’ model.

“If you change the environment, you change the people.” – R. Buckminster Fuller

Creating A New Story – We aim to add to the new and vibrant culture growing in Adelaide, void of any old “unemployed”, “homeless” or “country town” stigma. We will also call on the valuable past culture/story of the city to build a new story and future story. Because it’s through our stories that we create our value, which then builds a collective culture around belonging and contributing.

“If you change the environment, you change the people.” – R. Buckminster Fuller

An Invitation To Participate – A genuine invitation to participate is key in this venture and all who choose to collaborate on this project will be committing to creating possibility and opportunity for growth on many levels – Moreover, everyone on the BIG Belonging Team will grow. No matter whether we are learning, facilitating or managing, we will all be growing toward our own potential and mastery, which in turn will add great value to the collective outcome of the project.

“If you want to teach people a new way of thinking, don’t bother trying to teach them. Instead, give them a tool, the use of which will lead to new ways of thinking.” – R. Buckminster Fuller

Importance Of Belonging  – People don’t really know their potential until they are given the opportunity to be creative. Then they can demonstrate their ability to respond to their own needs, which leads to a true belonging in their community.

Opportunity To Grow – Humans are creative, innovative and curious by nature. We’re hardwired to be in relationship and it’s through our ability to collaborate and cooperate with each other that creates sustainable and unified results.

Growing Resources – We are seeking avenues of funding, resources, and support to make this initiative a successful and prosperous reality.

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself”- Joseph Campbell

Our Collective Vision – To design and construct a social innovation and social enterprise NOW Precinct – that is made up of four specific ‘spaces’, each of which offer opportunities to engage organisations, schools, universities, businesses and the local community to collaborate and participate in overcoming any current social challenges, while actively stimulating the economy. Our intention is to introduce social innovation into these spaces that focus on renewable energy systems, the renewing of dwellings and landscape, renewing community spirit, while individually renewing people’s lives.

Our Social Enterprise Challenge – As part of our engagement strategy, the ‘Social Enterprise Challenge’ would be an invitation for people to develop their own team and social enterprise; The renewal of spaces and environments that are in alignment with the vision of the N O W Precinct; A creative learning facility for social enterprise with a specialty curriculum focused on new business models for the Well-Being and Collaborative Era with the following components, for example: –

  • Applied S.T.E.A.M learning for development of commercial and renewable skills relevant to smart cities in the Australian context. For example, in collaboration with the University sector researching, designing, demonstrating, and manufacturing solar city equipment, innovative and sustainable housing designs, creative arts, sustainable and renewable crop productivity for home and commercial application
  • Socially responsible business practices for social enterprise, both tech and green.
  • Social synergy practices for resilience in new business models, including social enterprises, co-operatives, etc.
  • Design and develop innovative learning tools, such as Virtual Reality for the renewable and collaborative era and for commercial release programs that support social enterprise skill building.

We envision the NOW DOMES and the social innovation and social enterprise NOW PRECINCT as a collaborative design and manufacture opportunity that generates social enterprises, which also provide employment and training programs for the upskilling of people with an array of work skills necessary for the fast-growing creative, green and renewable industries of today.

Our motivation and intention are to create pathways that produce Zero Homelessness, Inclusive Leadership, Cultural Intelligence, Creative Green Environments and more Social Enterprise. Cultivating and developing a model of creativity, innovation, renewable energy, and collaboration for people who want to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.
